Human-in-the-loop AI, explained for operators

How policy checks, confidence thresholds and approval queues keep AI agents accountable.

· 5 min read

Human-in-the-loop AI means agents do the work, and people approve the decisions that matter. It is a design choice, not a fallback.

In practice, each agent action passes a policy check (is this allowed?) and a confidence check (is the agent sure?). If either fails, the task moves to a human approval queue with full context.

The result is that people spend their time on the small share of work that genuinely needs judgment, while everything is traceable after the fact.
